Undergraduate Individual Project
2019-2020
The project aims to apply aerial drone as a novel method for repairing cracks up to 15 mm in width in the exterior surfaces of constructions, both horizontal and vertical.
The end result is a functioning prototype of the Crack Repair Drone (CRD). The CRD utilises a ‘pivoting frame’ design in which the inclination of the motors is adjustable. This allows the CRD to change its hovering inclination to suit the angles of different working surfaces.
The CRD currently works with silicone sealants in standard size. However, the CRD is designed to be modular, in which the functional module can be changed to complete different tasks. Hence, the CRD aims to be a robust platform for various industrial applications.
